Joe Biden and Donald Trump have both confirmed that they are running in 2024. Many have pointed out the advanced age of both candidates, but there seems to be more of a concern for Biden in that regard; he’ll be in his late-80s by the end of his second term if re-elected. If Trump wins, you can just imagine the level of drama that will ensue.
As of recent polling, Trump is by far the favourite to win the Republican primaries. Even when you factor in Ron DeSantis (who as of right now hasn’t announced his campaign), Trump is ahead by a 30% margin. Through all the scandals and controversy, people are still riding for Trump in large numbers. It’s hard to imagine a scenario where his following diminishes significantly between now and the primaries.
I couldn’t say who I think will win between the two. The turnout will surely be astronomical, like 2020. I assume topics like abortion, gun control, racism, gender, and foreign adversaries will be among the big talking points during the entire campaign.
